Bonjour et bienvenue sur French Tuition Northants! My name is Clare Jones and I have been offering French tuition since 2004 in Northamptonshire and now via Zoom (and sometimes Skype) across the world. I live in Oundle near Peterborough not far from the Cambridgeshire border. Please note that during the Coronavirus crisis, I am only working online.

I have never been happier in my teaching career since I started tutoring French! I find it immensely rewarding. I believe I am a very patient teacher. I like to go at your pace and don't see the point in moving on until you are happy and confident with each level. If you are in a hurry to learn French for a specific reason, then I can tailor the course to suit your needs. I can provide you with a Holiday French course which just helps you to master a few phrases to get by on holiday, or I can provide a more grammatically structured course to help you build your own sentences. I particularly enjoy working with older learners. You are never too old to start learning French. It's fun and keeps you young!

I've designed a programme of study especially for rugby players. You can read about it in my blog here.

I also provide support for secondary school pupils who are preparing for GCSE examinations. I can help you to move up a grade if you are not doing well at school. I can also show you how to get that top grade if you have the potential and are willing to work hard. I have had a CRB check done in September, 2009.

I can provide support right through to "A" Level. Perhaps you just need help preparing for an oral exam? French people tell me my accent is good and I can help you to improve your pronunciation as well as your fluency.

I like to use an integrated approach, giving you specifically targeted tuition in lessons but pointing you to many other resources which you can easily access to become an independent learner. A half hour lesson with me can provide you with a week's work of private study if that's what you want.

I am particularly interested in figurative French expressions and would love to share my expertise with you! My two books Je mourrai moins bête: 200 French expressions to help you die less stupid (2015) and Mustn't Push Granny in the Nettles: 200 French Expressions (April 2020) are now on sale at Oundle bookshop and are also available on Amazon worldwide.

I teach from home in Oundle. If you can't get to me but are happy to have lessons using Zoom, then I can teach French lessons over the internet or even by phone.

If you would like tuition in a group, I might be able to help you. Please contact me to discuss this as I might have a group running to suit you.

Still not sure? You can get to know me better by reading my blog.
